Hiccups are mainly caused by spasms of baby’s tiny, developing diaphragm, the large muscle which runs across bottom of the rib cage and moves up & down as baby breathe.Hiccups are also caused when baby overfeeds, swallows a lot of air or eats too quickly.
It is very common for babies to get hiccups after feeding or during feeding, and it can also caused by sudden changes in stomach temperature. For example, If you give baby some cold milk and then after some time feed him some hot rice cereal. This can actually trigger those baby hiccups.
